Accenture EuroSoccer 2010 (July 2010)

Last weekend I joined the Accenture Austria team - for the first time as an alumni - which took part in the Accenture EuroSoccer 2010 football tournament in Stockholm. After one draw (Finland) and two losses (Germany 1, UK 2) we finished our group on 4th place. After wins against Germany 2 and Sweden on the second day of the tournament we finally lost the game for 9th place against Norway and finished 10th out of 16, i.e. the same rank as last year.

Next year the champion of the ladies tournament - Norway - is going to organize the Accenture EuroSoccer in Oslo.

England 2 - 1 Japan (May 2010)

This weekend we went to Graz seeing the final test of England prior to the world championship in South Africa. With Wayne Rooney being the best player England won by two own goals in the second half after being down 0-1 after 7 minutes. All in all a very good performance of Japan and still room for improvement for England.

Brno (January 2010)

Last weekend we made a short trip to Brno - the second largest city in the Czech Republic. Besides sightseeing we visited the opera watching "Prodaná nevesta" by Bedrich Smetana on Saturday and saw the 3-2 win of HC Kometa Brno vs. HC Benzina Litvínov – a match of the Czech Extraliga – on Sunday. In between we enjoyed the excellent traditional Czech cuisine.

1st Neustifter Weinlauf (October 2009)

Yesterday I took part in the 1st Neustifter Weinlauf. This newly established running event took place in the vineyards above Neustift am Walde and was organized by the local team of the Austrian Peoples Party (ÖVP). More than 60 participants faced the challenges of the demanding route (6.5 km and 250 m difference in altitude), which I finally finished 9th (4th in my age group) with a time of 43.5 min.

Altausseer Kirtag (September 2009)

Together with Vroni and Matthias we went for the 49th Altausseer Bierzelt to have a great time and some drinks in the beautiful Ausseerland.

Egypt (August 2009)

This year we spent our holidays in Egypt starting with one week of sightseeing along the Nile (Luxor - Cairo - Gizeh - Memphis - Sakkara - Aswan - Abu Simbel - Edfu - Kom Ombo - Theben - Luxor) followed by one week of recreation and scuba diving at the Red Sea (Makadi Bay).

Accenture EuroSoccer 2009 (July 2009)

Last weekend Accenture Austria including me took part in the Accenture EuroSoccer 2009 football tournament in Paris. After two draws (Ireland, Switzerland) and one loss (last year's champion France) we finished our group on 3rd place. After wins against Czech Republic and Sweden we finally lost the game for 9th place against Finland and finished 10th out of 16.

Land Rover Experience Training (June 2009)

Last weekend I learned what my Land Rover was built for besides driving to work. Various terrain and numerous obstacles were not a big challenge but great fun.

Neusiedl am See (June 2009)

This weekend 115 year old First Vienna FC 1894 finally managed to finish the current season as the champion of the Regionalliga Ost (3rd league) and is now going to play in 2nd league again after 8 years. After the match the supporters celebrated together with the team for hours (left photo: Osman Bozkurt, the top scorer of the league, and I; right photo: Peter Stöger, the manager, and Sabine).

Styria (May 2009)

End of May we went for Styria for an extended weekend of leisure and recreation. Besides visiting the Erzberg (right) inside and on its top we went to Kurort Aflenz seeing a concert of the local music orchestra and a broadcasting station of the Austrian telecom (left). On Saturday night we finally had a wonderful dinner including extraordinary local food and drinks at the Pogusch.

Wagrain (December 2008 / January 2009)

After the Christmas days we joined Vroni and Matthias for skiing in Wagrain. We spent some days including New Years Eve 2008 and New Years Day 2009 in the beautiful mountains in Salzburg.

London (October 2008)

In October we spent a extended weekend in London doing some sightseeing, shopping and seeing the musical Wicked.

Ireland, Northern Ireland and Liverpool (July/August 2008)

During the last two weeks we were traveling throughout Ireland, basically starting in Dublin, going around the whole island with a rental car and finishing in Dublin followed by a one day trip to Liverpool. We mainly focused on visiting various castles, e.g. Blarney castle shown on the left photo. On the other side there is a photo from some cliffs near the Skelligs.

Our favorite spot in Northern Ireland - the Giant Causeway is shown on the left photo. On our one day trip in Liverpool we visited the Beatles Story exhibition and the stadium of the Liverpool FC. On the right picture you can see the Royal Liver building.

Accenture EuroSoccer 2008 (July 2008)

This year some colleagues and I organized the Accenture EuroSoccer ourselves and so the tournament took place in Vienna. 20 teams from 12 nations (>300 players) joined us to identify the Accenture football champion for men and - this year for the first time - for women, where Norway made themselves first Accenture EuroSoccer champion.

Team Austria started badly losing the first game against France 0-1. Nevertheless we were able to qualify for the quarter finals after defeating Germany 6-1 and Netherlands 2-0. In our quarter final we kicked out the team from UK 4-0. For the Austrian team this was the first time in Accenture EuroSoccer history to qualify for semi finals. Unfortunately the semi final was lost against the very strong team from Slovakia, which was finally defeated by France (our opponent in the first game) in the final.

UEFA EURO2008 (June 2008)

„Expect emotions“ was the slogan of the UEFA EURO2008 taking place in Austria and Switzerland and as a matter of fact the atmosphere in the stadium was phenomenal. Of course we did our best to support the Austrian team in all three appearances (Croatia, Poland and finally Germany), but the only outcome was one goal scored by Ivo Vastic against Poland out of a penalty.

Planung und Analyse eines idealen Rechtsinformationssystems (April 2008)

In April my master thesis "Planung und Analyse eines idealen Rechtsinformationssystems" ("Plan and analyzis of an ideal legal information system") was published as a book. At the links you can find websites where you can purchase it as an paper- or as an e-book.

Schladming (January 2008)

In the first days of the new year we went for skiing to Schladming together with Vroni and Matthias. We stayed at the beautiful hotel Castle Thannegg - also Rowan Atkinson's joice, who stayed there one year before. During our stay the Planai Classic took place in the area and we where able to see some of the historical cars on their way.

Bali (October 2007)

After the wedding we spent our honeymoon at the Pondok Sari resort in Bali. It was a wonderful stay and besides snorkelling and diving we also took opportunity to visit several temples and other sights of Bali.

Wedding (October 2007)

On October 6th 2007 Sabine and I got married in the small and beautiful church in Weißenkrichen an der Donau. Afterwards we invited our family and friends to celebrate with us at the Steigenberger hotel in Krems. It was a perfect day for both of us!

Bachelor Party (September 2007)

On September 28 I finally had my bachelor party organized by my best men Matthias and Peter. You will understand that most of the photos are not qualified for beeing posted on my website :)

Monza (September 2007)

On the F1 weekend in Monza we were guests of the Willams F1 team (drivers Alex Wurz and Nico Rosberg). We had the chance to visit the free training on Friday, the Paddock Club, the pit lane and the Accenture lounge of the Williams F1 team.

Hochkar/Göstling (New Year's Eve 2006/New Year's Day 2007)

This year Sabine, Meli, Vroni, Peter, Matthias and I spent the days around New Year's Eve and New Year's Day skiing and celebrating at Hochkar (largest skiing resort in Lower Austria) and Göstling (place of birth of famous Austrian skiers like Thomas Sykora, Kathrin Zettel and Andreas Buder), where we stayed at a hotel.

Paris (October 2006)

Last weekend Sabine and I spent 4 days in Paris, mainly to see the classic sights with focus on the Louvre. On the left picture you can see the famous Portrait présumé de Gabrielle d'Estrée et de sa soeur la duchesse de Villars - the right picture shows us under the glass-pyramid in front of the Louvre. On Saturday night we took the chance to see French football at the Stade du Parc des Princes where PSG defeated Rennes in a close 1-0 (1-0) home victory.

Chicago (October 2006)

Since I am on a company training program in St. Charles near Chicago, where Accenture's training center is located, this week I used some spare time to visit the city this Sunday. Most important sight is the Sears tower which is the world’s third largest building in the moment. On the photo you can see a view from the platform on top of the Sears tower.

Bratislava (August 2006)

Last Saturday Vroni, Matthias, Sabine and I have been at Bratislava (Vienna's twin city) for sightseeing, lunch and shopping. As you can see on the photos it was a very sunny day - ideal to relax in Slovakia's capital.

Scotland (August 2006)

Sabine and I spent 10 days travelling through Scotland visiting the cities, the Highlands, and the coast. We rent a car in Edinburgh, saw almost all the well known places (like Loch Ness on the left (including monster) and the capital behind us on the right photo) and even had time to see some of the rarely known spots in Scotland. One of them was the (haunted) Greyfriars Cemetery near the Royal Mile where we joined a guided tour on the trace of the Mackenzie Poltergeist. We highly recommend this thrilling experience which was both - exciting and educational (thepoltergeist.com).

Accenture Eurosoccer 2006

Last weekend Accenture Austria including me took part in the Accenture Eurosoccer 2006 event in Dublin. After a close game team Ireland defeated us 2-3 in the quarter finals and finally won the tournament. Next year this year's second Italy is going to carry out the Accenture Eurosoccer in Rome.

Vienna City Marathon 2006

On 7th of May several colleagues from Accenture including me started in the team event of the Vienna City Marathon. With a total time of 03:41:50 we finished first out of all Accenture teams.

Sylvester 2005 - Semmering

This year Sabine and I spent Sylvester and New Years Eve together with Vroni and Matthias on Semmering skiing, tobogganing and partying from 2005 to 2006.

New York (October 2005)

Last week Sabine and I visited Sebastian, who is currently working on a project in New York for Mercer Inc. We stayed at his flat in New Jersey and started our sightseeing and shopping trips through Manhattan starting there. The highlights of the stay were a NY Rangers game at Madison Square Garden and The Phantom of the Opera at a Broadway musical theatre.

Elections of the "Bezirksvertretung" on October 23

The Austrian People's Party nominated me for the election of the "Bezirksvertretung" in Döbling, scheduled on October 23 2005.

My special concerns are the preservation of quality of live especially in Nußdorf, Grinzing, Sievering and Neustift am Walde, the enhancement of supply of garages, improvement of public transportation facilities and a modern and liberal politic for Döbling, which also meets the needs of the youth.

The Austrian People's Party finished first in Döbling increasing the gap to the second by more than 2%.

I totally received 53 preferential votes which is the 7th best result of all 72 candidates on our list, which is a great success, since I was listed on 25th position!

Berlin (May 2005)

This week Sabine and I spent four days in Berlin. Besides sightseeing and shopping we have seen a concert of I am Kloot and the new musical 3 Musketiere. Although we had a very tight schedule we managed to see Liverpool FC’s victory in the Champions League final – I am happy :)

IIHF World Championship (May 2005)

Russia and Slovakia shared the spoils Monday afternoon in the 2005 IIHF World Championship's best game at Vienna so far. Russia was down twice, but managed a crucial comeback to get a 3-3 (1-0/1-2/1-1) tie. Hosts Austria lost to Belarus 0-5 Monday night in one of the championships few sad moments. [icehockey2005.com]

Madrid (April 2005)

This week Sabine and I visited Andi in Madrid. We stayed four days doing mainly sightseeing and shopping. After all it have been chilly days in the capital of Spain including highlights like a boat trip in Retiro and a guided tour through Bernabeu stadium...

Bern (March 2005)

Since February I am working in Bern several days a week, since I took over project management of an e-government software project at the Eidgenössisches Finanzdepartement for Fabasoft. On the evenings I usually go for a Käsefondue or a drink with my colleagues.

Yesterday we went to see the play off game between SC Bern and HC Davos with a close 5-4 home victory after an amazing game...

Berlin (November 2004)

Last weekend I took an Air Berlin flight to Berlin Friday night straight after work to visit Teresa (Teresa's Weblog) on her Erasmus-stay in Berlin. I spent most time sleeping, sightseeing, shopping and - not to forget the bars and pubs - eating and drinking. I stayed at Teresa's WG in Prenzlauerberg until Tuesday when I had to return to Vienna...

Road Safety Training (October 2004)

On a Saturday in October Fabasoft organized a road safety training for several employees which took place at the ÖAMTC in Marchtrenk. It was an exciting experience to move and sling the MG around the course with all the water-hazards...

London (August 2004)

Last weekend Sabine and I made a trip to London for four days. Beside the standard sightseeing we did a lot of shopping...

We did not only go to Camden market or Notting Hill Carneval - we also supported Chelsea defeating Southampton and had dinner at Jamie Oliver's restaurant Fiftheen.

Thailand (July 2004)

During our journey we mainly dived, shopped and chilled around :)

After a few days in Bangkok we started island hopping in the following order: Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Pha Ngan, Kho Tao, Kho Samui, Bangkok

For the last three weeks Bastl and I traveled around in Thailand. We started our trip in Bangkok where we spent our first days mainly doing sightseeing and having us suits made...

Since Teresa and I are starting our road trip on Saturday I prepared the MG last weekend - mainly in doing car wash and driving open. The plan is to visit Caro in Paris, Elisabet in Lyon and Anna in Montpelliers before cruising along the Côte d'Azur and me trying to top the fastest lap in Monaco...

Rome (February 2004)

Last weekend Elisabeth, Katharina, Ernst, Clemens, Thomas, Markus, Markus and I went to Rome for 4 days. We went there by plane and stayed at a convent, which was quite cheap but unfortunately closed during the night. While we spent Saturday and Sunday doing hardcore sightseeing I switched to hardcore shopping for Monday and Tuesday. So I visited not only the most important churches and historical sights but almost all of the famous designer’s flagship stores. Sitting in the sun on the Spanish Stairs was chilly, too. Since we where not able to get into the convent after 11 p.m. we bought some bottles of wine to party inside, which was great fun - just ask Elisabeth about what she found in her bed last night :)

Bratislava (February 2004)

this weekend Teresa and I spent a few days in the capital of the Slovak Republic, which is only about 57 km from Vienna. Friday night Teresa arrived at the airport (after visiting Caro in Paris), we checked in at the hotel and directly entered the nightlife of Bratislava including excellent steaks for about € 10, very good cocktails for € 2 and the entry to a nice club für € 1 (of course we payed in Slovak Crowns that are at SKK 40 to € 1 at the moment). Next day we did some shopping and sightseeing before we returned to Austria showing our passports at the Slovak/Austrian border, which will not be necessary any more in a few months...

Team Tiller 17 - 15 Team Schüssel

On 27/12/2003 the match Team Tiller vs. Team Schüssel took place in the Wr.Stadthalle again. As last year Team Tiller was supported and led to victory by some Dynamo Döbling players. As last year I found my way on the scoreboard - this time with a left-foot-shot through the legs of the keeper.

New York (February 2003)

On January 30th 2003 Bastl and I took a A320 from VIE to CDG and a B777 from CDG to JFK to spend one week in New York, to chill out from a very hard winter term at university. We spent most of our time walking through the city making small shopping-breaks. We went icescating in Central Park and saw a College-League-Basketballgame at Madison Square Garden, were Redstorm St.John's defeated Miami Hurricane...

St. Johann im Pongau / Alpendorf (February 2002)

After doing the last exams in January I went for skiing together with Babsi, Vroni, Florian and Matthias. We have got a very nice accomodation in Alpendorf bei St. Johann im Pongau. Our ski-card enabled us to go for skiing in Flachau, Flachauwinkl, Wagrain, Kleinarl, Zauchensee, Schladming und Bad Hofgastein too. Our skiing days started at 9 a.m. regularly and after skiing we enjoyed the comfortability and the good food of course...

Study trip to Luxembourgh and Amsterdam

In the third week of January Matthias and I made a study trip to Luxembourgh as part of an excursion organised by the Research Institute for European Affairs of the Vienna University for Business Administration and Economy. In the end of this study trip we continued our journey and drove to Amsterdam. At this trip I hit my car's 80.000 km barrier, because we drove over 2500 km in one week...

Beachvolleyball-WM 2001 in Klagenfurt

From August 1st to 5th 2001 the Beachvolleyball-WM took place in Klagenfurt and I was there together with Elisabet, Teresa, Heidi, Matthias, Michael, Markus, Martin, Roman and 2x Flo. Here you can see a scene from the match for the third place between Kjemperud/Hoidalen (NOR) and McCaw/Heidger R. (USA). The stadium was overfull most of the time and the atmosphere was great. In the final at last Baracetti/Conde (ARG) defeated Ricardo/Loiola (BRA) in the third set. Beside the matches of the professionals a quattro-mix tournament for the crowd took place there, which was organised by the ORF, and I took part there. I played in a team together with two girls and Killy from Taxi Orange, but unfortunately we failed this competition...

Riccione (April 2001)

In April 2001 Matthias and I took part in a beachvolleyball tournament for a week as part of the beachline-festival in Riccione. Teresa and Caro joined to support us. Because of the bad weather we made some excursions. So we visited the F1-speedway in Imola one week after the grand prix. On a very rainy day we visited Firence. There we took photos of the most important sights e.g the stadium of the A.C. Fiorentina...
